S.O.S. - jigitz x Cyberpunk: Edgerunners

Cyberpunk 2077 had a big impact on me during the pandemic when going outside became less and less frequent. When Cyberpunk: Edgerunners came out, I immediately knew I had to make an edit as part of my tribute to the universe that inspired me. The song "s.o.s." by jigitz ft. Tabi was used here.

This scene feels like an intimate one, so I wanted to emphasize the audience seeing things from the character's POV. I added a wiggle effect to make the camera movement seem more natural, plus keyframes for blurring and scaling to simulate the camera zooming in and focusing.

I added the wiggle effect here too because I wanted the camera to shake as if we were running with her so we could feel the impact of the movement and how dire the situation is.

I'm a sucker for a match cut or overlaying frames with similar themes, like the eyes blinking red as the impact shot happens. Small details like these are a treat for me to go back and watch even if most people wouldn't pick up on it because it happens in a split second.

Here are a few sections that I really enjoyed working on! My favorite concept that I explored in this project was utilizing movement and action to create fluid transitions between clips. Some of that can be seen in my Apex edit here, but I had more footage to pull from this time. I stressed the importance of motion with this edit because of how fast paced the song is and action packed the source material is, so much so that I received feedback that it was hard to discern what was from the original animation and what was my work. While it's a little sad because of the amount of hours I put into the edit, it just means I did my job correctly if they can't tell because the transitions are smooth.

These aren't the only sections that I did this kind of editing on, but I wanted to highlight some of the type of work that can be seen throughout the video!
